08 Jan Fresh n’ Lean Review + Healthy Eating Challenge 2015
A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to sample and review Fresh N’ Lean meals for my readers here on my blog and Instagram, and now I am ready to share! First off, all of the opinions shared are my own, and I would only share if I really truly enjoyed Fresh N’ Lean, which I can assure you, I DID!
Fresh N’ Lean is a vegan meal delivery service that provides organic, vegan, low-sodium, low-fat, and preservtive-free breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Everything is made to order and ALL of their meals are nutrient-rich using locally sourced, in-season produce. They are made in Chino Hills, not too far from my home in Los Angeles. What I love the most is that they use minimal oil and salt. In taste testing 5 different meals with my family ,whom I should add are not vegan, and are in fact eat eaters that eat a more healthy version of a standard american diet, loved them. My mom and I even fought over who would eat what for work lunches, haha! My parents agrees that no additional seasonings were needed. I was only able to try savory lunch/dinner dishes from Fresh N’ Lean, but with my experience, I would assume that their breakfasts would be just as delicious and satisfying. Here are two shows of what I had at home:
Mushroom and Kale Risotto
I used the Fresh N’ Lean dish and stuffed it into cooked portobello mushrooms…SO GOOD. It was perfect as a quick appetizer uring Christmas when guests had arrived but dinner was not yet ready from my mom and I. Everyone loved this recipe and I really want to try and recreate it.
Lentil and Veggie Tagine.
organic green lentil, organic celery, organic green bell pepper, organic artichoke heart, organic white mushroom, organic carrot, organic tomato paste, organic spinach, organic date, organic cumin, organic paprika, organic garlic, organic turmeric, organic all spice, organic garam masala, sea salt, black pepper.
HOLY YUM! I served this with brown rice and it was the perfect “Raw Till Dinner” meal. Raw Till Dinner means what it says, that I eat raw food until dinner time, then consume a high carb, low-fat vegan dinner. I love eating rice and/or potatoes for dinner, along vegetables and/or beans, so this was spot on to my usual dinners. After trying this dish, I know my lentil dishes at home definitely need some work, and I will be working on a recipe to hopefully be as yummy as this to share with you all.
Since I did not have any breakfasts to photograph, I thought I would include a few from the Fresh N’ Lean website.
Mixed Berry Chia Pudding
Mushroom and Broccolini Lentil
organic green lentils, organic kale, organic Portobello mushroom, organic broccolini, organic carrot, organic celery, organic broccoli, organic tomato paste, organic coconut oil, organic coconut amino, sea salt, black pepper.
