02 Feb Barley Grass & Basil Citrus Juice
This morning I woke up energized and awake, in a way that I have not been in a long while. This passed weekend for me was one of revitalization and rejuvenation. I took time for myself, to connect with my thoughts, emotions, body, and inner being. Too often do I forget that my health is all encompassing of every aspect in my life, not just my physical well-being. Remembering this fact, and becoming more aware of it, has allowed for me to definitely live my life in an improved way, filled with greater appreciation and awareness.
I arose and made my way to my backyard, where I proceeded to pick lettuce, calamansi and oranges from my garden. I am so extremely grateful for my mother and her love for these plants. She tends to them everyday, and it has grown to become an intrinsic part of her daily routine. She teaches me what she learns from gardening, and shares her experiences with me everyday. Being able to create life out of something as small as a seed, and to literally enjoy the fruits of her labor is an experience unlike any other. I believe that the produce tastes better than store bought because of all the love she puts in to it.
Also, I have had these Ball Plastic Storage Caps for about a year now, so I thought I would share with you my experience. These were not sent to me to review, and I did not purchase them out of a recommendation, but rather by stumbling upon them on Amazon and giving them a try. Here is the outcome:
- BPA free, yipee!
- Reusable
- Freezer safe
- Comes in both wide and regular mouth sizes
- Easy to screw on and off
- Dishwasher safe
- Allows for stackability of jars
- Great for short term, refrigerator storage
- Not entirely spill proof
- Best for dry goods, not liquids
Anyways, here is the recipe for my newset juice recipe, Barley Grass & Basil Citrus Juice!
Barley Grass Juice Powder is my new favorite addition to everything lately. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably have seen me use it in my posts. It has a sweet flavor to it, and is definitely not something as strong as, let’s say, spirulina or wheatgrass. I choose barley grass juice powder over barley grass powder because it is the concentrated form of barley grass. I found out that it takes twenty five pounds of juice to make one pound of powder, crazy!
Benefits? A ton of vitamins and minerals that your body will thank you for, including potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, beta carotene, B1, B2, B6, C, folic acid, and pantothenic acid. YES, you’re welcome body.

If you do not have a citrus juicer, simply peel the oranges & calamansi and place into the blender after removing the seeds.

Posted at 02:58h, 13 FebruaryWhat a sweet article. I want to have my own garden someday, too. Probably I could plant something in my mothers garden .. I’ll think about it. Yet, I don’t know anything about planting.. :/
