Grip The Mat — The Ultimate Yoga Experience

Grip The Mat — The Ultimate Yoga Experience

GTMSuperLaunch.LA.BOS.DCBlacklight Yoga, Live DJ + Kombucha Cocktails!? Basically the ultimate yoga experience, YES PLEASE.

This weekend I was lucky enough to be a part of the Grip The Mat‘s bi-coastal launch event experience and I wanted to share it here with all of you because it was so unique and uplifting, and available not only in Los Angeles, but also in Washington D.C. and Boston! If any of you have ever been to a GTM event, commment below and let me know how it was for you 😉

DIM THE LIGHTS, TURN UP THE SENSES.

Although I can provide insight on the event I attended this weekend, I wouldn’t say that I am able to give a full review of GTM as a whole simply because I only experienced a third of what they have to offer. Grip The Mat hosts three signature events (I attended Soul & Spirits). A description of them all is further down this post.

GTM2The event started with meditation, went into an invigorating yoga flow, partnered handstand practice and kombucha (+cocktail) mingling! Chris and I tried the Sweet Thorn and Maca Berry kombucha (SO GOOD!), and they served up 2 custom cocktails made especially for the event.

I was quite surprised by how well it all played out. Event yoga flows are always, un my experience, quite hectic, and more stressful than enjoyable and relaxing because of over capacity, lack of flow, and just the feel of the class versus that in a quaint single room studio. Chris and I had attended the LA Yoga Expo and that was basically what had happened during the meditation and flow classes we attended, and some attempted to attend because it was overly crowded.

I kind of went into this event with that expectation, which took away from it at the start unfortunately, but I soon began to realize that that was not the case at all, and thoroughly enjoyed the class and event for what it was 🙂 It was the meditation that brought me into that relaxed state, and followed by the flow where I worked up quite and sweat! Although it was a bit too tight in there, it worked! I would say that Wanderlust in West Hollywood would be the perfect venue for their next event. I realized that loading my mind up with false expectations, in general, is an action I need to actively try and rid of, so that I can truly enjoyed the moments of my life to their fullest extent and experience them all for what they are. Right?

GTM1Grip The Mat holds three types of events:

1. SOUL & SPRITS

The perfect alternative to your gym workout. Enjoy a soul-thumping experience of flow in the dark yoga followed by signature Grip The Mat cocktails made with specialty, organic mixers. During this soulful experience, we dim the lights and turn up the senses.

2. VINYASA TO VINO

This is their nighttime event, a wine night fitting for that sometimes needed staycation during busy weeks. It includes a vinyasa yoga flow and a tasting of four wines. Wine is always iffy for me, as most is not vegan, so I would say if you are to attend a Vinyasa To Vino Event, call or email ahead for a wine list and search the wines up on Barnivore (an online directory of vegan and vegetarian beer, wine, and liquor that is very handy!).

3. BENDY BRUNCH

This is their trademark event. I wish this was the one I attended with Chris, who doesn’t love brunch, especially one paired with yoga?! This event includes yoga, energizing foods from local chefs, bottomless champagne and of course a social hour for mingling.

I really do hope some of you can attend a Grip The Mat event, I had such a great time and I want you to, too! Now off to the next LA adventure 🙂
