Vegan Avocado Yogurt Ranch Dressing {oil-free}

Vegan Avocado Yogurt Ranch Dressing {oil-free} sweetsimplevegan.comEvery time someone tells me that they have a hard time eating salads, I always tell them that what they are in need of is good a dressing. Not just any dressing, but one that is still healthy and free of any added oils. Why ruin a perfectly healthy salad with a fatty and unhealthy dressing?

Before going vegan and eating healthy in general, I was used to eating my salads doused with ranch dressing. Well, I decided to make a healthier vegan version of ranch dressing, and this is what was born 🙂 I was also inspired by my friend Ashley Clark and her raw vegan ranch dressing that I was fortunate enough to try at a potluck last summer.

For more dressing ideas, check out a few of my other creations:

Vegan Avocado Yogurt Ranch Dressing {oil-free} sweetsimplevegan.comI had the chance to try out Dream plant based yogurts last month, and even besides using it in this recipe, my favorites were the plain almond and coconut yogurts. I always preferred mild yogurts/unflavored when growing up, and apparently that preference has not changed even not having had vegan yogurt often (at all) these past 4 years.

The almond yogurt I used was slightly sweetened, but it was not a worry at all as I was able to balance out that sweetness with extra lemon juice and salt. You could use this dressing as a dip as is, or by even decreasing the amount of almond milk used in it, have fun with it!

Vegan Avocado Yogurt Ranch Dressing

  • Author:
  • Prep Time: 10 mins
  • Total Time: 10 mins
  • Yield: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plain vegan yogurt (I used 2 plain Almond yogurt from Dream — see notes)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened plain almond milk
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill
  • 3-4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 3/4 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dried chives
  • 1/2-1/4 tsp salt (see notes)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and process until smooth.
  2. Taste and adjust salt and lemon as needed.
  3. Serve over your favorite salad.

Notes

The yogurt available to me was pre-sweetened, so I had to add extra lemon juice and salt to balance it out.
Add salt accordingly. If your yogurt is sweet, you will need more salt.

Disclaimer: I was provided with almond yogurt by Dream to try and review on my blog, but all of the opinions shared are my own. I would not share a product with you all unless I loved it!Thank you for supporting Sweet Simple Vegan!
