Did you know that the fashion industry is the third most polluting industry in the world after oil and agriculture?

Today I am sharing something a bit different, and hoping to do more written pieces like this to shed light on other aspects I am passionate about aside from food. Chris and I are, as you may have seen, including more travel and lifestyle posts on our website, and I hope you enjoy reading these as much as we enjoy putting them together!

I became more aware of ethical fashion because of a youtuber named Kristen Leo, and from there began doing more research on the subject. According to the Ethical Fashion Forum, ethical fashion “represents an approach to the design, sourcing and manufacture of clothing which maximizes benefits to people and communities while minimizing impact on the environment” >> it means benefitting, not harming, communities involved in the process and development of the clothing, as well as not harming the environment AND also (what is not emphasized) NOT harming animals.

Finally, a snack that both Chris and I agree on. A problem (I don't know if I should even call it a problem lol) that Chris and I face is our snack choices is that I always want sweet and he always wants savory. Well, I finally crossed over to the savory side because this snack had us both in love at first bite.

Today Chris and I are sharing with you a guest post + recipe for this amazing buddha bowl from Ashley, who is part of the talented vegan couple behind the blog Eat Figs Not Pigs. We hope you enjoy this recipe and getting to know her :)Asian Inspired Buddha Bowl with Spicy Peanut Sauce #vegan #buddhabowl #oilfree sweetsimplevegan.comAn easy 30-minute Buddha Bowl recipe that is not only bursting with flavor, but nutrition too! It is loaded with a plethora of vegetables, and topped with a creamy peanut sauce with the perfect amount of spice. If you are looking for an easy, healthy and satisfying entree, this recipe is for you! Meet Ashley, the girl behind the blog + learn why she went vegan! My name is Ashley, the girl behind the blog, Eat Figs Not Pigs. Two years ago, my wife and I switched to a vegan diet overnight after watching the documentary, Cowspiracy and learning about the devastating affects that animal agriculture has on our earth. Before watching Cowspiracy, we were like most people…we thought taking shorter showers, carpooling, and even participating in “Meatless Mondays” was making an impact for our environment and for the animals. We were shocked to learn the harsh realities, and mad that all of this information was hidden from us. From that day on, we continued to educate ourselves on the truth behind animal agriculture and factory farming.
