Chris and I are hoping to make our trip to Colorado a yearly tradition as it has been two years in a row that we visited and stayed at one of our favorite hotels + saw a show Red Rocks Amphitheater, and it's safe to say we fell in love with it all. With that, we thought it was only fitting to create a "Vegan in Colorado" guide to round up our favorite spots in the area to help you plan your trip if you ever visit :)

We partnered up with the St. Julien Hotel (see last year's post here), and not only worked on a photography project with them, but were also fortunate enough to stay and review the hotel. The hotel is located in a prime spot of Boulder. It is walking distance from Pearl Street (aka Downtown Boulder where it's poppin'), and Chris and I found ourselves there almost every day on our trip. On weekend nights the hotel has live music and dancing, and you can also check out a ton of street performers, live music, and events happening at different restaurants on Pearl St. just a short walk away.Vegan in Colorado + The St.Julien Hotel 2017 sweetsimplevegan.com #vegan #colorado #vegantravel

Did you know that the fashion industry is the third most polluting industry in the world after oil and agriculture?

Today I am sharing something a bit different, and hoping to do more written pieces like this to shed light on other aspects I am passionate about aside from food. Chris and I are, as you may have seen, including more travel and lifestyle posts on our website, and I hope you enjoy reading these as much as we enjoy putting them together!

I became more aware of ethical fashion because of a youtuber named Kristen Leo, and from there began doing more research on the subject. According to the Ethical Fashion Forum, ethical fashion “represents an approach to the design, sourcing and manufacture of clothing which maximizes benefits to people and communities while minimizing impact on the environment” >> it means benefitting, not harming, communities involved in the process and development of the clothing, as well as not harming the environment AND also (what is not emphasized) NOT harming animals.

Portland Vegan Food Tour 2017 #portland #vegan sweetsimplevegan.com
The great Pacific Northwest — breathtaking views, an energetic yet calming atmosphere, and some of the most delicious food we've ever had the pleasure of tasting. A few weeks back Jasmine and I set out on a road trip with our sights set on Portland, OR. From there, we made our way up to Seattle, WA, and then back down to Los Angeles, CA. We are here to outline our trip, including the Portland vegan food adventures we enjoyed, and everything else...so let's go!

Jill's Restaurant Vegan Buffet + The St. Julien Hotel | Boulder, CO sweetsimplevegan.comRecently, my partner Chris (Conscious Chris) and I headed out on a 12 -Day road trip. You can watch it all on my road trip video playlist on my youtube channel. Along our trip, Chris and I touched down in Boulder, CO for a few days. It was my first time in town, his second, but even with that, there was still so much ground we both had to cover. Fortunately, even with our last minute booking, we were able to score a room at the St. Julien. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-KmrW4FyGc[/embed] Included in my road trip video playlist was a video (above) with a mini hotel room tour and our experience at the all you can eat vegan buffet discussed below. Especially coming from the various Super 8's and Priceline express deal booked rooms, this whole experience was even more than the paradise we expected it to be.

Chris recently celebrated his 27th birthday (well actually it is today!), so of course I put together a few gifts for him to celebrate. I decided I would share the gifts on my page + an extensive vegan male gift guide for you all in case you need a bit of help in treating a special someone in your life. Father's Day is just around the corner, so this is definitely going to help ya'll out! Let me know if you try any of these out, or if you have any more ideas to share for me to add :) What I Got Chris:

We all have our down days, and I am not going to put up any front and say that I don't. Of course I share on my blog a lot of the positive highlights in my life, but I also want to be able to be completely transparent with you all, and share every aspect of it, including both my ups and my downs. I don't want to ever say that I would have not wanted something to have happened, or to remove any experience from my life, because I believe that all happenings in our life are for a reason. The reason why I am so firm about this mindset is because of my past history with an eating disorder and lack of self love. But I also keep in my mind that my life will go in the direction which I guide it, in the sense that if I stay positive about any event I view as negative in my life, I can steer myself into a better direction, mediate the pain, sadness, or distress that I feel, and make better choices/moves for the next time. I wanted to share with you all 12 things that I do to relax and destress, and hopefully these can give you some ideas :)

1. Close My Eyes, Breathe and Meditate

I only recently started incorporating meditation into my life, because honestly the practice was intimidating for me to get into. I want to let you know that it really does not have to be! I used to look at meditation as a specific practice, meaning that there were correct and incorrect ways of meditating, but it is not!
