Travel

Chris and I are hoping to make our trip to Colorado a yearly tradition as it has been two years in a row that we visited and stayed at one of our favorite hotels + saw a show Red Rocks Amphitheater, and it's safe to say we fell in love with it all. With that, we thought it was only fitting to create a "Vegan in Colorado" guide to round up our favorite spots in the area to help you plan your trip if you ever visit :)

Vegan in Colorado + The St.Julien Hotel 2017 sweetsimplevegan.com #vegan #colorado #vegantravelSt. Julien Hotel | Boulder, CO

We partnered up with the St. Julien Hotel (see last year's post here), and not only worked on a photography project with them, but were also fortunate enough to stay and review the hotel. The hotel is located in a prime spot of Boulder. It is walking distance from Pearl Street (aka Downtown Boulder where it's poppin'), and Chris and I found ourselves there almost every day on our trip. On weekend nights the hotel has live music and dancing, and you can also check out a ton of street performers, live music, and events happening at different restaurants on Pearl St. just a short walk away.Vegan in Colorado + The St.Julien Hotel 2017 sweetsimplevegan.com #vegan #colorado #vegantravel

Portland Vegan Food Tour 2017 #portland #vegan sweetsimplevegan.com
The great Pacific Northwest — breathtaking views, an energetic yet calming atmosphere, and some of the most delicious food we've ever had the pleasure of tasting. A few weeks back Jasmine and I set out on a road trip with our sights set on Portland, OR. From there, we made our way up to Seattle, WA, and then back down to Los Angeles, CA. We are here to outline our trip, including the Portland vegan food adventures we enjoyed, and everything else...so let's go!

Jill's Restaurant Vegan Buffet + The St. Julien Hotel | Boulder, CO sweetsimplevegan.comRecently, my partner Chris (Conscious Chris) and I headed out on a 12 -Day road trip. You can watch it all on my road trip video playlist on my youtube channel. Along our trip, Chris and I touched down in Boulder, CO for a few days. It was my first time in town, his second, but even with that, there was still so much ground we both had to cover. Fortunately, even with our last minute booking, we were able to score a room at the St. Julien. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-KmrW4FyGc[/embed] Included in my road trip video playlist was a video (above) with a mini hotel room tour and our experience at the all you can eat vegan buffet discussed below. Especially coming from the various Super 8's and Priceline express deal booked rooms, this whole experience was even more than the paradise we expected it to be.

Vegan Camping: What To Pack (Food w/ Recipes, Supplies & More!) sweetsimplevegan.com In order to pack for our camping trip, Chris and I scoured the internet for a checklist and the most credible one we came across was from REI, which the below was created from :) Check out the other two posts part of this series recap of our camping trip: My number one tip: before purchasing anything, try to borrow your supplies! I'm sure you have friends or family that are outdoor adventurers (or at least thought they were at some point) that have supplies that they can loan you. You may think you don't, but I encourage you to ask around first, because you never know what you will discover! We borrowed almost all of our supplies, from my brother & his girlfriend + my parents, and this saved us a ton of money, stress, and time!   Below is a list of everything that we packed on our trip! I am not saying that you need to bring all of this, or that you won't need anything else, but I want to give you a good idea/base for your trip as a vegan camper :)  Vegan Camping: What To Pack (Food w/ Recipes, Supplies & More!) sweetsimplevegan.com

We started our day, of course, at the Hollywood Farmer's Market for breakfast, then set off to SD in the afternoon. CRSSD started at noon I believe, but since the two musicians we wanted to see were later that night (Gorgon City and Chet Faker), we took our time and swung by Bar Kindred upon our arrival. I have a rough list of to visit spots in SD and I was able to cross one of them off during this trip, Bar Kindred in South Park.
